Activating ProRes RAW in AtomOS 11

Feature Activation in AtomOS 11 remains largely the same, with the only exception being the process of activating ProRes RAW. For this, we've implemented the option to generate a unique RAW ID, that is required to unlock ProRes RAW for free.

1. Atomos Ninja or Ninja Ultra
2. A compatible camera capable of outputting RAW 
3. An HDMI or SDI cable (Atomos Connect required)
4. A computer or Smartphone
5. An SSD and a USB Dock or USB to SATA Adapter

1. Download and install the latest version of AtomOS from atomos.com/product-support
2. Power on your AtomOS 11 device and navigate to the Activation tab.
3. In there, press the "Go To RAW" button under RAW ID. Your Atomos 11 device will now reboot into ProRes RAW mode.
4. After the reboot, a label in the top menu bar named "ProRes RAW HQ" appears.
5. Now turn on your camera, enable its RAW output and connect the camera to your AtomOS 11 device.
6. Once your AtomOS 11 device detects a RAW Input for the first time, it will generate your unique RAW ID.
7. To verify if the activation was successful, navigate to the Activation tab again, where the RAW ID will be displayed.

What's next after generating the RAW ID?

To proceed with the activation, you first need to register your product on my.atomos.com. This can either be done through your Smartphone, or via a computer. 

Registering your product via the smartphone is by far the fastest way to get up and running because most of the relevant product information is stored in the QR code that's displayed in the Activation menu. Using a computer, the product information would need to be entered manually.

1. Scan the QR Code with your phone and follow the suggested link to my.atomos.com
2. Login to your existing account or create a new one.
3. Once you're logged in, the registration form will pop up automatically. You'll see that the fields titled Device ID, Device AID and RAW ID are already pre-populated with the unique IDs of your device. Those are what's stored in the QR Code.
4. Enter your device's Serial Number (S/N) which you can either locate by taking a look at the box that your product came in, or by checking the sticker sitting in your devices' battery slot.
5. After that, enter the remaining information into the form and complete the registration.

Product Registration using your Computer

1. Open my.atomos.com in your computer's web browser.
2. Login to your existing account or create a new one.
3. Once logged in, navigate to the My Devices section via the sidebar.
4. Press the Register Device card, which then presents you with a blank product registration form.
5. Select your product, enter the products' serial number, date of purchase and the reseller you bought it from.
6. Now we can enter all the relevant IDs. Here's where you can locate them within AtomOS 11:
   1. To locate your Device ID (DID), touch the timecode display and then navigate to the Info tab. Your Device ID is displayed there. Be sure to check and enter the correct digits with O and 0 or I and 1.
   2. To locate your Activation ID (AID), touch the timecode display and then navigate to the Activation tab. The AID is displayed here. Please note that the input is case-sensitive, so care should be taken to accurately enter the code exactly as it appears on the screen, checking O and 0 as well as I and 1.
   3. As previously described, your RAW ID (RID) is also found in the Activation menu.
      
7. Once the three IDs made their way into the registration form, you can submit it and complete the registration.

Activating ProRes RAW and other features

1. Once the registration is complete, select your device from the list. A detail page showing the IDs and other information you've previously entered will open.
2. At the top, you can find the device's optional/paid features, but right below it is the codec section.
3. In the codec section, you can select the codecs that you want to activate on your device.
   Note: Even though these activations are free for you, we still have to pay royalties for each activation. We'd appreciate it if you'd only activate codecs that you actually intend to use.
4. Once you've activated ProRes RAW and the other codecs you may want to use, scroll up and press the "Download Token" button. 
5. Unzip the archive and place the Activation.bin file in the ROOT directory of your SSD.
   Note: Do not place the Activation.bin file in any folders, and ensure that your computer operating system does not automatically add a 1 or any other character to the file name.
6. Before removing the SSD from your dock, eject it by following the computer's operating system guidelines.
   
7. Power on your AtomOS 11 device and insert the SSD with the Activation.bin file on it into the drive slot.
   
8. Your device will indicate that it has detected your activation token and automatically opens the Activation menu page. Simply press the "Install" button in this menu, and the feature/s you selected in my.atomos.com will now be enabled.
