You will need to take two steps to begin transmitting an NDI signal:
- First, enabling the NDI interface.
- Then start the transmission feed.
Enabling NDI
Select the Output tab and on the first row tap the NDI switch to turn on the NDI interface. Once enabled, a grey button marked NDI will appear on the main screen in the top left corner.
Starting the feed
Tapping the grey button will start the NDI feed, and the button will change to Yellow to indicate it is transmitting. Once the signal from your device is connected to a receiving device, the button turns Red.
Viewing the Transmission
There is a wide selection of devices and software that can receive the NDI TX signal from your Atomos Connect device. This includes the NewTek TriCaster range, Telestream, Wirecast, and software including the NDI tools and applications like Sienna-TV and OBS Studio.
To test that your signal is being transmitted as you expect, we would recommend that you download the NDI tools from NDI.tv and use the NDI Video/Studio Monitor application.
Once the application is running and your Atomos Device is live with NDI TX, you can select the device from the NDI menu.
Recording the input signal
You can record in the same way you normally would on an Atomos device by tapping the red record button, either before or after you begin transmitting NDI signals to a remote device.
Your recording options vary depending on the version of AtomOS you are using.
- For Atom OS10 you are recording in either ProRes or DNx codec depending on the configuration you have selected on the device.
- For Atom OS11 your recording will be in the HEVC codec, this applies to HD only, recording is not available for 4K signals.
Remember to ensure that you have enough storage available for the duration of your NDI transmission.
