How do I activate Avid DNxHD / DNxHR?

A core pillar of the Atomos brand is to include "everything in the box" - this means wherever possible we provide most of the accessories you need and absorb licensing costs. As an example, Avid DNxHD or DNxHR is free but has to be activated by the user. This is a one-time activation for the life of the product. Ninja 2 & Samurai owners need AtomOS 4.0 or later in order to activate Avid DNxHD, Shogun and Ninja Assassin owners require AtomOS 6.2 or later for DNxHD/HR. The Latest AtomOS firmware can be download from the support page (www.atomos.com/support).

Before following the unlock process for DNxHD / DNxHR you will need to know your DID (unique device ID). This can be obtained from Home page > Menu > Device info on your Atomos device. 

When you select to use DNxHD or DNxHR on your Atomos device you will be prompted to enter a 4 digit activation code. To get this code go to www.atomos.com/support, select "Avid DNxHD / DNxHR activation" and enter your Device ID (DID). Once the DID is entered, the Activation Code is generated. This can in turn be entered into the unit to unlock the Avid codec for free.
