Touching the Timecode display on the home screen, just above the three main controls (Rec, Play, Menu), will take you to the Timecode setup screen (this is also accessible by touching Menu and then Timecode). From here you can make Timecode setting changes based on the modes supported;
- HDMI or SDI (Embedded); With this setting, the SDI or HDMI input will use the Timecode embedded in the input signal. The controls to adjust the Timecode value are disabled in this menu as you will need to adjust these on the camera.
- Record Run; With this setting you set the start timecode of the first clip and the following clip will start at the frame immediately after the out point of the preceding clip. This will continue for all clips that follow. This is often referred to as continuous timecode.
- Time of Day; With this setting, each new clip that is created will contain embedded Timecode starting with the time of day when the recording is started. It is important the the device's clock has been set correctly. If recording is stopped and then restarted while in this mode, there will be a time gap between the last clip and the next one, equal to the length of time the Shogun Flame has been out of record.
- Auto Restart; With this setting, the Timecode will be reset to the Timecode you have defined whenever you press record. All your clips will start with this same Timecode.
- LTC input (via GenLock BNC); Shogun / Shogun Flame / Shogun Inferno all feature an LTC input. If LTC is selected then Timecode will be taken in via the LTC input. If no LTC signal is present the unit will revert to SDI/HDMI Timecode. Please note that the LTC generator needs to be set to the same frame rate as the input video signal. If the LTC signal is looped through to the other channel then both recordings will have synchronized Timecode.
