Enhancing PiP with Overlays – PSD Template

When using the PiP (Picture in Picture) feature on ZATO CONNECT, you can use overlay graphics to create a border or add text below, above or next to the PiP image. This can help with branding for your streams, add names of participants, or even add extra information for your audience.

To make the process of creating custom overlay graphics as simple as possible, we're providing a PSD template that can be used with Adobe Photoshop. You can download the PSD template from the attachment section at the bottom of the page.

This template provides some basic graphics and text layers that you can edit to suit your streams. 

Within the layers of the template is a folder/group called 'Overlay Examples', which has the following folders within:

• Gaming News Weekly
• Live Stream Frame
• Recipe Sheet
• Product Specialist

To use one of these graphics templates, disable the other layers. Then open the sub folders of the group to edit the layer elements. The following shows an example of the layers enabled / disabled to have just the Product Specialist graphics displayed.

To edit the text, select the text layer in the layer stack and then double-click on the text in the image to select it. Enter the new text that you want to appear. To edit the logo, click on the Logo folder and delete the Logo layer which contains the image. Now you can add your own logo and scale it to fit within the white rectangle. 

The template includes groups called 'PIP Positions Small' and 'PIP Positions Large' to indicate the size and position of the different PIP options that the ZATO uses. These layers should be enabled when you are designing custom graphics to sit next to, above or below the PIP. Ensure that these layers are disabled before you export your graphics, otherwise they will be included with the graphics.

There is also a blue background layer called 'BG', which can either be enabled, or replaced with an image if you want to have a static background below your PIP, instead of having the video from the main input displayed.

If you want to use graphics with the PIP and have the video from the other input displayed, make sure you disable the 'BG' layer.

Once you have finalized your design, export the image to a 1920 x 1080 PNG file and make sure that Transparency is enabled.
