One of the ways that Atomos streamline the shoot-to-edit workflow is by introducing the use of tags that can be applied during the shoot or in playback and saved out to be referenced later during editing. For the Blade series you can tag Favorite or Reject and for Shogun/Assassin/Flame/Inferno series a total of 10 tags are available (Favorite, Reject, Talent 1, Talent 2, Over exposed, Color correct, Bad Audio, Cutaway, Close up, Wide shot).
To access tagging press the Cut and Tag green flag from the home screen. You can now see your video in the background and the various tags available for marking clips whilst recording. To use, simply tap the desired tag to mark the in point and tap again to mark the outpoint. A green or red line will appear in the timeline scrubbing bar so you can identify the region that has been selected. To clear all marking point clips, press on the Reset icon.
Once you're finished, the tags need to be saved as an XML file that accompanies the recording when it is ingested into FCPX. Enter either the Playback List or the Media Information page and look for the icon "Export XML". Press this once and you will be shown a please wait screen that will vary in time depending on your recording time and amount of flags applied.
