Once the unit is switched on, it will operate by default from your external DC power source if available. If no DC power source is present, then the battery will become the primary power source. In some circumstances however you might want to prioritise using the battery over the DC – for example connecting a PowerStation to use the on board batteries first before reverting to PowerStation which might also be charging your camera. In this case from the battery menu (top left icon on home screen) select “Battery” in Power Priority Mode.
